Bioinsecticide synergy: A big question! Bioinsecticide synergy: A big question!
Synergistic action between some synthetic pesticides has been known for several decades. In parallel to heightened awareness of pesticides negative side effects, global interest in bioinsecticides (botanical, microbials, and arthropod venoms) has been raised. Synergistic interactions between different bioinsecticides, bioinsecticides and synthetic insecticides, and among specific components in botanicals have led to a significant reduction in pesticide use, environmental pollution and pesticides resistance management. Findings demonstrate that biopesticides may influence non-target organisms, especially natural enemies and pollinators. However, the potential negative consequences associated with synergistic action among synthetic insecticides and bioinsecticides or mixtures of bioinsecticides on nontarget arthropod species remain debatable. Furthermore, the wide range of taxonomic groups for which such synergistic interactions have been identified, suggests that this action could also happen in nontarget organisms.Furthermore, the wide range of taxonomic groups for which such synergistic interactions have been identified, suggests that this action could also happen in nontarget organisms.
